Tunisair among most reliable companies in the world ImageTUNIS, July 12, 2009 (TAP) - Tunisair was classified by The Air Safety and Tourism Observatory (OBSSAT) in Geneva, among the most reliable companies in the world. It is a great distinction for the public carrier which celebrates this year the sixtieth anniversary. The Swiss Observatory, which tracks real-time news from 1,300 regional, charter and low cost airlines in the world, evaluates the carriers on safety criteria: age of the aircraft, maintenance performed, number of incidents encountered and the way they were treated. It classifies the companies into five categories: good level, correct level, subject to, banned in Europe or to be banned. The national company figures in the category ''A'' alongside prestigious carriers such as Lufthansa, Qatar Airways, Singapore Airlines, United Airlines (USA). It performs better than other major airlines like Air France, Air Algerie, Royal Air Maroc, Air India, China Airlines, Air Europa (Spain) in the category ''B''.
